Chapter History

The town of Moncks Corner was named for its landowner Thomas Monck in 1728. With its old fashioned hospitality, southern charm, and history, you’ll want to visit and possibly stay.

This is the home of Nu Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, chartered on January 19, 1980, under the leadership of Theolya Baylor, Asonya L. Berlin, Brenda D. Bines, *Mildred G. Brevard, *Marion W. Bryan, Janie F. Gill, Jocelyn E. Howard, Genell Jefferson, *Dora L. President, *Vernell President, *Catherine Ravenell, Rena Sanders, Lynette T. Smith, Luretha B. Sumpter, Betty D. White.

When these chartering sorors had moved back to their hometowns in Berkeley County. They saw the need to give back to their community, and were reminded of the promises they made on becoming members of Alpha Kappa Alpha on their various campuses.
